River Crossing
I looked at the fast flowing water and trembled at the
thought of crossing the icy rapids. The wet stones glistened in the beaming
sunlight. I took a slow step into the river and flinched as the bitter water
seeped into my shoes. I took a deep breath and went on. The slippery stones
stopped me from going fast. I was scared that I’d fall. Slowly I picked my way
through the rocks and finally managed to make it to the grassy shore. The sun
was shining but my legs were shivering! My heavy, wet shoes weighed me to the
ground. I slowly trudged down the rocky bank until I came to another crossing.
This time I was more determined to cross. Carefully going down to the smooth
pebbles, I notice a dark patch in the water. It looked as deep and dark as a
black hole. I imagined being sucked into it. I quickly moved on. Soon I found a
shallower path and a suitable exit. Now that my feet were used to the chilly
water, it felt nice to step into the stream. I confidently waded across to the
opposite side. The grass tickled my legs and as I broke out of the shade, and I
welcomed the glowing sun that warmed my feet.
