Abseiling

Abseiling

Mr H called us into the meeting/concert room to tell us our first activities. I couldn't believe what I heard, the activity I didn't want to do at all. I was so scared when Mr H announced that our first activity was.....Abseiling! When Aaron (the camp owner) finally arrived to take the super rockin' fun time gummy bear circus (our groups name, Alice came up with it, we even have a song!). When we had walked all the way to the abseiling place Aaron told us to sit down and he demonstrated how to put the gear on, on Lily. Once he had finished that he put the other two harnesses on Mishy and Emma M. Then he gave one of the two blue helmets to Emma M.'s dad and put orange helmets on Mishy, Lily and Emma M.

It took a while to get them down the small cliff (Aaron said it would take eight of us standing on top of each other to reach the top of the cliff) because no one wanted to go first, in the end Emma M. offered to go first. Where we where watching from there was a mirror tied to a beach tree covered with thick black moss and wasps eating the little strands of honey on the tree, made by bugs that live in the thick black moss. I noticed that there where milk bottles in some of the trees and I asked Aaron why they where there and he said " he put sugar and poison in them so wasps smelt the sugar and went in and ate the sugar and the poison and took some back to their hive  and the other wasps ate some and it kills all the other wasps in the hive because there are too many wasps around". When it was my turn to get harnessed up I was so scared and I was practically shaking when I was at the front of the line. I kept telling myself not to look down when Aaron told me to lean backwards over the edge of cliff. I raced down the cliff and when I got down to the bottom of the cliff I was so proud of myself and I wanted to do it again!
